Torrefied Hard Maple Bass Neck Blank 850 × 85 × 30 mm

Torrefied Hard Maple (Acer saccharum) is commonly used in the construction of electric bass necks, particularly for standard-scale designs such as Jazz Bass or Precision Bass–style instruments, where longitudinal stability and mechanical consistency are essential.

In this longer format, Hard Maple provides sufficient stiffness for working long necks with predictable behavior over time. Its homogeneous structure helps maintain neck geometry and allows for stable truss rod adjustment, an important factor in instruments subjected to higher string tension.

This neck blank has undergone a torrefaction process, a vacuum-based thermochemical treatment in which moisture and volatile compounds are removed while the structure of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin remains intact.

As a result, the wood loses approximately 20% of its mass with no significant change in volume. The resulting material offers improved dimensional stability and a response to temperature and humidity changes comparable to that of long naturally aged wood, while also developing a characteristic toasted color.

These pieces are not graded by quality. Selection excludes cracked or structurally defective wood, ensuring sound and usable blanks, although natural variations in color, grain pattern and growth ring distribution may be present.
