Sapele is a classic choice, appreciated for its deep reddish-brown color and shimmering golden grain. With a density of 650 kg/m³, it offers a good balance of strength, stability, and overall workability—especially on the lathe.

Native to Central Africa and botanically known as Entandrophragma cylindricum, its interlocked grain gives it character but can be challenging for fine carving. It's best suited for turned forms, broad reliefs, handles, or decorative elements with clean lines.
