Overview A Curly Maple Acoustic Guitar Backs:

In our opinion, few woods have the potential of a curly maple back. Usually used by prestigious builders such as Santa Cruz or Bourgeois, or in iconic models such as Gibson's SJ-200. It is undoubtedly one of the most sought after tonewoods for its acoustic qualities.

Experts say that it has a brighter tone than mahogany, with a faster attack and a very quick response to the touch. All this without even taking into account its incredible curly aspect, which acquires almost three-dimensional shades once it has been lacquered.

European maple - Acer pseudoplatanus - is a light-colored wood, with golden reflections that intensify when oxidized. It is a wood with no appreciable grain, which in many cases eliminates the need to use a filler. It is easy to work despite its hardness (although it requires sharp tools) and a bright and attractive finish can be achieved simply by using a scraper or planer, without even needing sandpaper. It is undoubtedly one of the most pleasant woods to work with.

In the A Grade backs you will find backs that are ideal for sunburst finishes. In this category you will find either very showy flaming with small spots or knots, or less visible curl but defect-free. Of course, its acoustic qualities remain unchanged. White color with amber reflections. You can also pair them with a pair of sides of the grade of your choice.
