The fingerboard is one of the most defining parts of a guitarist’s experience. It’s the surface where the strings are pressed and where the fretting hand does all the work. A good fingerboard wood should feel smooth and comfortable, resist wear, and allow precise playability regardless of the musical style.

In addition to its function, it also plays a role in tone: denser woods tend to enhance attack and definition, while more porous ones may slightly soften the sound.
