Overview Bearclaw European Spruce Classical Guitar Tops:

European Spruce is one of the most common woods used in the tops of stringed instruments. It is a slow-growing wood, which gives it a light weight, very good stiffness and exceptional damping qualities.

¿What is bearclaw?

Also called Haselfichte, bearclaw is a striking set of streaks that appear on the surface of the wood. Although they can also be perfectly distinguished in raw wood, it is once sanded and varnished when these irregular lines reveal all their beauty. Nobody knows for sure what causes this effect in the wood (the influence of a fungus has been considered, or the torsions produced by the wind) but some prestigious luthiers assure that it adds stiffness and resistance to the top. They also claim that the wood this feature appears in comes from long-lived trees with an optimal growth rate. Be that as it may, our european bearclaw spruce tops are undeniably beautiful and will add that extra touch of exclusivity to your next guitar.
