Wax-free Shellac is a solid natural resin of animal origin, obtained from the secretion of the Kerria lacca insect. This product has been refined to remove wax and decolorized, and is presented in light honey-colored flakes.
Thanks to its high purity and transparency, it is especially suitable for preparing fine varnishes in lutherie, providing a bright, uniform, and aging-resistant finish. It is used in both the construction of bowed string instruments and the restoration of antique instruments.
Its solubility in alcohol allows the preparation of stable solutions that are easy to apply, offering durable protection and enhancing the natural beauty of wood.
