Torrefied Hard Maple Neck Blank 850 × 105 × 30 mm
Torrefied Hard Maple (Acer saccharum) is a widely used wood for electric bass neck blanks, especially in standard scale designs such as Jazz Bass or Precision Bass, where structural stability and mechanical consistency are critical over time.
With a width of 105 mm, this format provides added versatility for luthiers working on wider neck profiles, custom designs or projects that require greater freedom in neck shaping, while maintaining a predictable and reliable mechanical behaviour.
Torrefaction And Dimensional Stability
This Hard Maple neck blank has undergone a torrefaction process, a vacuum-based thermochemical treatment that removes internal moisture and volatile compounds while preserving the integrity of the cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin structure.
As a result, the wood loses approximately 20% of its mass without significant changes in volume. The resulting material offers enhanced dimensional stability and a response to temperature and humidity changes comparable to naturally long-aged woods, while also developing a distinctive roasted tone.
Wood Selection
These pieces are not graded by quality. During selection, cracked wood or pieces with major structural defects are excluded, ensuring sound and functional material suitable for lutherie, although natural variations in colour, grain pattern or growth ring layout may be present.
