In addition, Fijian mahogany is a very versatile wood that can be easily worked and is highly resistant to moisture and wear. With a reddish color that varies from a light to a dark red tone, Fijian Mahogany is a wood that offers a classic and elegant look.

This wood is very porous, so it should be primed rather than spray primed to avoid building up too much thickness in the finish. 

Mahogany has traditionally been used in electric guitars from such renowned brands as Gibson, who used it in their Les Paul and S.G. models.

Is Fijian Mahogany listed under CITES?

Fijian Mahogany does not need a permit from CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) because it is not on the list of species protected by this convention. It is a native Fijianan species that is not endangered and its international trade is not a threat to the survival of the species. In addition, the Fijianan government has a sustainable forest management policy that allows for the responsible management of this species.
