As for the width, the wider the frets, the more comfortable the contact with the neck will be, but it will also require a more precise work when recontouring them to avoid intonation problems.<br /><br />If we talk about material, traditionally <strong>nickel silver</strong> has been used. This is an alloy composed of zinc, copper and nickel that has the ideal balance between hardness, abrasion resistance and ductility. Different formulations can be found with a zinc content ranging from 12% to 18%. The higher this percentage, the greater the hardness of the fret.
