Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) is highly regarded for producing a warm, rich sound full of nuances. This wood features a white-grayish color in the sapwood and a heartwood that, when freshly cut, shows shades of saffron yellow or dark chocolate brown. Once exposed to air, it turns into a more uniform reddish-brown, and over time outdoors, it develops a beautiful and highly appreciated silvery gray tone. Its grain is fine and the fiber is straight, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and acoustic performance.
