Highly recommended by luthiers, cabinet makers and woodworkers, these planes offer great precision thanks to their +/- 1.5 thousandth of an inch tolerance grinding and blades made of T10 carbon steel , water hardened to RC63.
In the field of lutherie , spokeshaves are essential tools for working on curved and contoured surfaces . These short-soled planes are specifically designed to shape and refine convex, biconvex, slightly concave, and even flat surfaces after the initial profiling has been done with other hand tools, such as a bandsaw or rasps.
Thanks to their compact and ergonomic design, spokeshaves allow for working consistently along the wood grain, ensuring precise and smooth finishes on complex parts, such as bindings, sides, or necks. <h2>Overview Safety Planer:</h2>\n
<p>A thicknesser planer the size of the palm of your hand: the <strong>Safety Planer</strong>. Space in a workshop is limited, and <strong>a luthier has to be very thoughtful about what tools and machinery he uses</strong> in that amount of space, both in terms of footprint and price. Most thicknessers are expensive and take up a lot of vital (and usually limited) space in a luthier's shop. <strong>With the Safety Planer accessory and a bench drill you have your own thicknesser</strong>.<br /><br />The Safety Planer Attachment is designed to be used with a bench drill only and has a 12.7mm (1/2") shank. Operating speed should be between 2500 to 3000 RPM maximum. The cutting area is 70mm (2-3/4") and the cutting height is 6.35mm (1/4"). We recommend making successive runs and varying the height depending on the hardness of the wood to be processed.<br /><br />The cast aluminum part has <strong>3 independent blades</strong>. When one of the blades is worn, simply rotate it 180º to use the side that is unused.
