Board and Log Leftovers. Ends, Trimmings and Pieces with small Defects.

  • Botanical Name: Sassafras albium
  • Origin: North America
  • Density: 460-495 kg/m3
  • Description:Sassafras wood looks very similar to Swamp Ash both aesthetically and acoustically. The heartwood is light brown to grayish; the fiber is straight and the grain is coarse. It is a wood that does not present difficulties for cutting or machining. We must take the usual precautions for drying.

Currently there is a scarcity of swamp ash, one of the most used woods to build electric guitars, the sassafras is postulated as the best alternative to ash because of its viability, its abundance, and that their attributes and appearance are similar. Tonally they have small differences, the sassafras sounds deeper, with more amplitude in the bass and mids, but with the same punch that characterizes the Swamp Ash.
