Exotic Ebony Wood for Woodturning and Carving

Exotic ebony is one of the densest and most valued woods in the world. With a density of 1000–1275 kg/m³, it offers an ultra-fine texture and a naturally polished finish. Its deep black color, highlighted by a striking grain pattern with light and dark contrasts, makes each piece visually stunning.

Native to Cameroon and botanically classified as Diospyros crassiflora, this wood belongs to the same species as the well-known traditional black ebony. It is ideal for small sculptures, turned bowls, mouthpieces, handles, or decorative inlays where strength and elegance are essential. Due to its density, it requires very sharp tools and careful technique, and should be protected from dehydration to avoid cracking over time. In our store, you’ll find precision chisels, carving knives, and finishing waxes to make the most of this exceptional material.
