African Mahogany for Woodturning and Carving

African mahogany is a lightweight wood with good dimensional stability and a pleasure to work with. Its density of 490–530 kg/m³ and interlocked grain, while slightly demanding, yield excellent results when worked with sharp tools and controlled cuts. Its color ranges from light brown to reddish, with golden highlights enhanced by oils or waxes.

Native to Cameroon and from the Khaya spp genus, this wood is ideal for turned boxes, decorative figures, curved lids, or wide-shape relief carvings. Its texture makes sanding easy and efficient.
