Brankowood® FSC 100% Black A+ Violin Fingerboard
The Brankowood® Black fingerboard is a sustainable and stable alternative to ebony, with a homogeneous, elegant look that reproduces its classic aesthetics. Made from FSC 100% certified Pinus radiata and stabilized with natural resins, it provides a durable material that is moisture-resistant and very uniform in color.
Compatibility by size: at 300 x 50 x 15 mm it is dimensioned for a 4/4 violin and can be trimmed for 7/8–3/4. The finished fingerboard on a 4/4 violin is typically ≈260–275 mm, so 300 mm leaves room to adjust. The 50 mm width provides room to flare toward the heel, and the 15 mm thickness leaves stock to set longitudinal relief and transverse camber, as well as future leveling.
During production, moisture content is reduced to around ≈5%, ensuring excellent dimensional stability even with climatic changes. Its density approaches that of ebony, providing comparable acoustic properties and a firm feel under the fingers.
Thanks to the material’s homogeneity after stabilization, this stabilized fingerboard offers very favorable workability: it sands and finishes easily, reducing the risk of chipping or grain variation.
