Both the intensity and color can be very varied, which really gives each piece a unique personality. Of course, beauty is not everything. To be used as a wood for wind instruments it must be well turned, hard, moisture resistant and have a good finish. Tulipwood, one of our most striking woods, possesses all of these qualities to varying degrees.
