Nitorlack® TV Yellow Nitrocellulose Lacquer Spray The TV Yellow finish is one of Gibson’s most iconic 1950s colors, closely associated with models like the Les Paul Junior (1954) and the Les Paul Special (1955) . It is a light, semi-transparent shade with a yellowish cast that subtly reveals the mahogany grain.
Several explanations coexist for its name: many believe it was chosen for a neutral, low-glare appearance on early black-and-white TVs; others link it to the period’s popular limed mahogany TV cabinets; and some see a response to Fender’s Blonde finish. The truth is likely a blend of these influences.

<p>A new product developed by Valresa, Relic Patina will allow you to <strong>achieve an aged look</strong>, filling the holes, cracks and marks in the nitrocellulose lacquer.<br /><br />Just <strong>apply a generous amount</strong> and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, clean the surface with a clean cloth. As it is a water-based product, it<strong> is easily removed</strong>, but if left to dry for more than 5-10 minutes it will be more difficult to remove. Repeat the process a couple of times more so that the cracks are more defined. We can also apply it on the back of a neck that is sanded down to the bare wood, achieving a worn effect with a dark tone. It is a water-based product, so<strong> it is non-toxic</strong> and <strong>does not damage the nitrocellulose</strong>.
